291/299 Carling Avenue

Ottawa, Ontario

A Canada Lands Company and Algonquins of Ontario joint venture.

View plans

Located near Ottawa’s downtown core, 291 Carling Avenue is a 3.4-acre (1.4-hectare) parcel that Canada Lands acquired from Public Services and Procurement Canada in 2017, as part of a joint venture with the Algonquins of Ontario. This venture builds upon the two parties’ existing partnership at Wateridge Village/Village des Riverains (the former Canadian Forces Base Rockcliffe).

The management committee overseeing 291 Carling Avenue has equal representation from both organizations, with Canada Lands acting as project manager. The site is currently vacant and serves as a parking lot with 300 fully occupied stalls.

Canada Lands is continuing its public engagement phase for this project. Following consultations and meetings with stakeholders and City officials, Canada Lands is working to finalize the preferred development concept, which will be presented via an online engagement platform. Additionally, Canada Lands will be submitting a rezoning application for municipal approval in summer 2020.
