Transforming Montréal’s industrial port lands into a dense, sustainable and vibrant mixed-use development that captures the spirit of the city’s historic interior port
Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre is located in Montréal, Quebec, in the Sud-Ouest Borough, along Parks Canada’s Lachine Canal and within walking distance of Montreal’s business center and Old Montreal.
The site, bordered by Ottawa Street, du Séminaire Street, Richmond Street and the Lachine Canal, measures 23.5 acres (9.6 hectares) in total. On the site was a 650,000 square foot (60,387 square meters) operated by Canada Post as a mail distribution facility. This facility was closed in 2003 and deconstructed by CLC in 2010 to make way for its redevelopment as a vibrant mixed-use development.
When completed, Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre will offer an inclusive community, naturally integrated into its environment with 2,000 private residential units including family-oriented and affordable units and 500 social housing units, as well as new municipal parks and neighbourhood retail and services. The project received LEED-ND Gold accreditation in 2013 from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Les Bassins du Nouveau Havre will be realized over a ten to twelve year time frame and has already undergone significant transformations.
